Villages & Hotels

It’s THG’s thesis that urban development and resort developments are increasingly coming together driven by the continuing trend of consumers seeking experiences.

In 2019, Joseph Pine II wrote The Experience Economy, and his new 2026 book The Transformative Economy says this trend continues but is heightened as consumers seek curated personalized experiences including lifelong learning.

Written in 2006, Ian Thomas also spoke to this in his ULI article The Mall as Resort.

Practices of programming ‘Renting a Crowd’ are standard practices in resorts and today and can be seen in Rick Caruso’s The Grove (Los Angeles, CA) and Kemper Freeman’s The Bellevue Collection (Bellevue WA).

Hospitality

Under the umbrella of Intrawest, Harbor Properties, and THG, we have acted as Developer and Advisor.

Intrawest developed numerous condo-hotels where rooms were sold to individuals and then rented nightly as hotel rooms. Harbor Properties implemented a similar strategy at Schweitzer’s Selkirk Lodge, White Pine Lodge, and 5-Needles at White Pine.
